A September Island Holiday

I got this idea from Japanology.

Then thought of Island Holidays around the world.

I find this subject a challenge as someone like me isn't supposed to dream of holidaying beyond designated holiday destinations within my class or status.

I moved from working class to middle class and not sure what I am now.

Have studied this one as for instance Japan is classed as an Island which I didn't know.

Britain is an Island but I did that with British June.

Ireland is an Island independent of Britain.

Decided to feature this instead.

Another place I'd like to visit.  A tarot friend of yore recommended Dublin and The Crowley deck ~ she was right about the Tarot deck.

Also, we love Irish coffee ~ you can also make calypso coffee.

Saturday food

Japanese or Hawaiin

Japanese

I would recommend Wagamma, which is a Japanese restaurant

or

Hawaiin

If you are struggling to get food you can order takeout Hawaiian pizza

or

Frozen pizza

or

you could make your own topping on pitta bread, really low calorie and something different for a change.

Saturday TV

Carry on Again Doctor

This takes us to the Beatific Islands.

Which showcases Michael Caines's Wife Shakira

Bought a similar dress from Anna Sui during COVID.  Didn't realize she is Michael Caine's Wife.

Then I recommend all the films as usual, will air them on weekend TV.
Interstingly Jeremy Brett is in Deceptions and The secret of Seagull Island ~ both brilliant.

Sunday Food

Irish

The BBC just show midweek type food from Ireland.

Struggled a bit here but found some high end cannapes in Dublin.

I think the Irish party is like the 70s party served with an Irish or Calypso coffee at the end.

As we struggle with food still, we will opt for an Island fusion party.

Think we will do Hawaiian pizza followed by Irish Coffee or Calypso coffee.

We are finishing off with Mcvities Jamaican cake, (was in our shopping bag by mistake).  This adds another Island as Jamaica is an Island.  Will probably put some squirty cream on left over from the Irish and Calypso coffees.

I haven't a sweet tooth, but I love Welsh T loaf, guessing it is like that but with ginger instead ~ will have with a coffee to sober up again at the end of the Party

Have to laugh about calypso coffee.

We once saw a gig in a converted church in London, then went for Greek.

Ordered a Calypso coffee and these old dears overheard and said they where having a Calypso coffee too, they had a fab time dancing around the tables, what Island holidays are all about.

Think that was the last time we had fun before covid actually.

Really recommend Calypso coffee,  The nerd prefers Irish coffee.  These are great drinks for winter warmers too if you live somewhere cold.

I have a nip of brandy or whiskey in my coffee or options hot chocolate to keep me warm on winter nights.

Whiskey is definitely the best cure for colds or flu.

Think Sherry might possibly prevent flu as it  warms you up so much, then you can detox it off in dry January, which isn't that bad as it ends with the 70's party.

Sunday TV

Have to recommend Fellini's Casanova

Set in Venice.

It is roughly 2 and a half hours, but if you are in a film buff mood really does what it says on the tin.

Just get yourself set up for an evening of film watching, with drinks if it is the weekend or herbal tea if it is mid week.

(can leave the films on longer now as I got my pinterest sorted).

Interestingly another great film with Donald Sutherland also set in Venice is Don't Look now.

Interesting connection.

Don't think I would of noticed that if I wasn't mixing films with holidays.

If you are not enjoying post covid living, this is a great film buff evening and will transport you to a mysterious Venice, much more exciting than some of the tv around at the moment in Mho.

Invite some friends round and have a film buff party.

Guaranteed to delight and horrify your guests.

Serve

Venetian Prosecco and blood-red Campari.

or

Peach Bellinis

This evening will impress and satisfy your guests jaded by post covid.

If you like the sound of this, hang around to November as it ties in really well.

Maybe we will all get there in the end, i.e. the fun and fashion we used to have pre covid.

Also Quite Pleased with how many classic films based on Islands have turned up for this Party.  Along with some newer films that I think may become classics.

Sunday Concerts

The nerd chose this, so it is Pink Floyd on Sunday.

Counted among the most extraordinary and controversial rock concerts ever held in Italy, the free concert was organised in Venice on a floating stage on 15 July 1989 on the occasion of the traditional Redeemer festival (festa del Redentore) at the presence of some 200,000 spectators positioned on the banks and boats of the St. Mark's basin. The concert was broadcast by RAI worldwide with an audience of about 100 million viewers.

Great end to the Island Holiday Party!!!

Hope you have a great time!!!

The next online party is an October Halloween Party.

How to do an 80's Party During lockdown, I started throwing online parties.  I was on my own and didn't fancy getting drunk alone.  The internet answered my dilemma and I put together the top of the pop parties and horror films.  It became a weekly habit and getting up and having a dance to top of the pops with a drink turned out to be fun. This evolved into a few Christmas parties and a 70's themed party at the end of dry January. A few teeny bopper ravers were a bit sarcastic about online parties, but don't knock it till you try it. In the early days of Twitter, they may have even been shocked. In those days I had to do the heavy drinker test. Really enjoyed the alcohol and music parties, but then I had to go dry and dry out. The 80s party is a bit more organised than the rowdy chaotic early days. Got the idea for this from supersizers do the 80's. 80's fashion ideas recommended from this documentary Sue shops at Peter Jones in Sloane Square It is now partner
