 A SUMMER HOLIDAY PARTY ABROAD

This idea is something just about everyone wants I would guess.  The dream destinations will obviously vary, but it is one of the reasons we work hard so we can travel to sunnier climes than Britain and have well-earned rest and luxury.

Saturday Food

The idea is either:

70's buffet party, which could include Swedish food.

Not sure if Ikea is back fully yet, but when it is there are loads of party ideas available.  I actually once impressed a snobby foody by making hors d'Å“uvre from Ikea products, shocked myself but it did.  Suppose I did get Home Economics at school.  Until Ikea is back you can just get whatever there is at the supermarket.

Then serve with a 70's alcohol like Mateus or Cinzano or of course Swedish vodka.  Found two beers at Ikea so maybe it will be back soon.  We used to buy a lot of their alcohol.

or

Spanish Tapas

We used to get the Tesco tapas, but it isn't there anymore.

Have found some recipes to make yourself.

I'd be tempted to do Spanish if our extractor fan worked.

Then you can serve with Sangria.

Saturday TV

As always I recommend a Carry on film

Carry on Abroad

But there are a few choices

Saturday Concerts

I'll load a few up as this blog stays here over winter, might be nice to access these to feel a bit like summer.

Food

The options are:

Greek Party

The Greek deli used to be brilliant at the supermarket, you can still get a few low-calorie options and salads, so if you don't feel like a day off you could opt for this.

Have Found some Greek recipes

and

You may live near a Greek deli so you could just get takeout.

Serve with ouzo or retsina

or:

Italian

It is decided we are having Italian when I listed the options.

Found some recipes for you or you could see what the supermarkets have on offer.

Again I'd really like to cook something.

Think I'm going to have Italian Salad, Garlic bread and a dessert if there is any.

Probably serve with Cinzano

Might look for Italian ham, Parma ham is really low calorie.

found this at sainsburies
sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/sainsburys-parma-ham

It is high in fat, but it is the day off!!!

Just found some Parma ham salad recipes, decided to try that.

Anyway have a browse at the lot and see if something inspires you!!!

If there still isn't many options at the supermarket, just realised you could do pizza and red wine like in the George Baker video.

Just this minute the shopping was delivered and we have a great selection of Italian food from M and S, including low calorie garlic baguette, antipasto selection and some pasta/spaghetti ready meals.

Things do seem to be getting better ~ just need some red wine or cinzano to accompany it.

Have a rest and congratulate yourself for all your effort in August Slimming calender, then we will walk ourselves fitter with Lesley and Jessica up until October ~ where more treats await you!!!

In Three film we discover red wine actually is good for us and is an elixir of youth.

Sunday TV

This is hard to choose from for me.

Will recommend a Carry on film double, for this blog, but will post the rest to weekend TV over September.

This is a vintage film that still works today.

If you are lucky enough to travel abroad this year, hope you have a lovely time.  If you are like us, we haven't managed to do anything as post covid turned into riots and so forth.

Hopefully, we will all get to go abroad next year.

You can browse and plan outfits maybe.

By next year you may have made more progress in the slimming calendar and got a new look together, so feel more confident in summer outfits.  I'm still not beach ready anyway.  I'm aiming to get back into a tankini or tankini and shorts as I haven't got a small waist.

Hope you enjoy this day off and get some holiday ideas from the films.

Have to say I hope to watch all the films and concerts if I get the chance.  One good idea is if you like some of the films you could purchase the books for your summer reads next year or buy the albums for your in flight journey to your holiday destination.

Maybe things will of calmed down by next year, we will all be back in shape and be on holiday at our dream destinations!!!

The next online party is an end-of-September Island Holiday party.

How to do an 80's Party During lockdown, I started throwing online parties.  I was on my own and didn't fancy getting drunk alone.  The internet answered my dilemma and I put together the top of the pop parties and horror films.  It became a weekly habit and getting up and having a dance to top of the pops with a drink turned out to be fun. This evolved into a few Christmas parties and a 70's themed party at the end of dry January. A few teeny bopper ravers were a bit sarcastic about online parties, but don't knock it till you try it. In the early days of Twitter, they may have even been shocked. In those days I had to do the heavy drinker test. Really enjoyed the alcohol and music parties, but then I had to go dry and dry out. The 80s party is a bit more organised than the rowdy chaotic early days. Got the idea for this from supersizers do the 80's. 80's fashion ideas recommended from this documentary Sue shops at Peter Jones in Sloane Square It is now partner
