BBC4 One Night In The 60's - Late Night Line Up


The 60's food option with this TV program is fondue, great if you have guests round for a party.

This video is one year after the 60's but it has the fondue recipe which is probably the same recipe I would guess.

The Entertainer - Tony Richardson | 1960



This film is an insight into the British seaside in the 1960's, you may remember it, or like me not even know about it.

The 60's food option I gleaned from this film is fish and chips and champagne.  This is one of the day off options.  As fish and chips are cooked in vegetable oil these days, they are not as unhealthy as when they were cooked in lard.  They are actually 860 calories a portion.

Sunday Night Food Options


This I would serve with a high-quality roast beef joint (hopefully beef will come back soon) and a 60's red wine that goes with beef.  You would start with sherry.

Fanny Craddock offers other roast dish alternatives such as lamb or pork

Filed more recipes from the 60's and found a you tuber making duck a l'orange and prawn cocktail.  Can get the big time Gwen thing now in Fear of Fanny on 70's party.  I'm not a foodie so I'd finish with a chocolate dish, especially as it is one night off in slimming calendar ~ either that or do beef instead of duck if that goes with chocolate.

(This year we are doing Chicken Mcdonald on Saturday and fish and chips, eclair and champagne on Sunday, then whatever alcohol we can get.

Hopefully next year I will be cooking both evenings and have a fully stocked drinks cabinet).

I also recommend Carnival of Souls as it accompanies tonight's selection of 60's Hammond organ

 A SUMMER HOLIDAY PARTY ABROAD This idea is something just about everyone wants I would guess.  The dream destinations will obviously vary, but it is one of the reasons we work hard so we can travel to sunnier climes than Britain and have well-earned rest and luxury. Saturday Food The idea is either: 70's buffet party, which could include Swedish food.    Not sure if Ikea is back fully yet, but when it is there are loads of party ideas available.  I actually once impressed a snobby foody by making  hors d'œuvre  from Ikea products, shocked myself but it did.  Suppose I did get Home Economics at school.  Until Ikea is back you can just get whatever there is at the supermarket. A September Island Holiday I got this idea from Japanology. Then thought of Island Holidays around the world. I find this subject a challenge as someone like me isn't supposed to dream of holidaying beyond designated holiday destinations within my class or status. I moved from working class to middle class and not sure what I am now. Have studied this one as for instance Japan is classed as an Island which I didn't know. Britain is an Island but I did that with British June. Ireland is an Island independent of Britain. Decided to feature this instead. Another place I'd like to visit.  A tarot friend of yore recommended Dublin and The Crowley deck ~ she was right about the Tarot deck. Also, we love Irish coffee ~ you can also make calypso coffee.  80's party easy access post Used to do this on Tumbler but it wasn't working properly last time so giving this website a try instead.  Have added advertising to make this legal. Just add your 80's fayre, whatever you can get at the moment, till things get better, your favorite 80's tipple, (alcoholic or nonalcoholic) and sit back and enjoy your fave film, will put my film recommendations on here but you can browse Pinterest for loads more 80's film and Tv choices.  Then get up and have a dance in your living room to a top of the pops party and take in some or all of the concerts.  In the COVID lockdown, we stayed up all night till the Waterloo sunset.  Lastly ~ enjoy!!!
